How can I determine where a coil spring attaches?

Spring anchor positions are generally denoted in the Operator's Manual product illustrated parts diagrams with LARGE CAPITAL LETTERS in or near the spring itself. These letters designate the relationship between the spring anchor end and its related anchor position in the assembly.

Example: "A" connects to position "A" in the diagrams, "B"-to-"B", etc… Refer to the product illustrated parts diagrams for assistance in determining these spring anchor positions. Bear in mind that occasionally the anchor position letter designation may be shown on a different diagram or page in the parts manual then the actual spring. This would occur when the anchor position is on a part or assembly not shown in the diagram with the assembly containing the actual spring.

Service Tip! Another good clue as to where a spring should anchor is to look for scratched paint or a shiny surface as the result of vibration at the point where the spring had been anchored previously. Click here for information on measuring a coil spring.
